The club offers a range of opportunities including recreational and social\u0026nbsp;kayaking, racing, sea and white water kayaking. In addition, the club has canoes and stand-up paddle boards for members to try. Membership of the club stands at around 500 people and a key focus of the club is to ensure that paddling opportunities enable members to socialise together, getting to know one another and becoming part of the Cambridge Canoe Club community.\u003cem\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/em\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eObjectives\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSafety: \u003c/strong\u003eEnsuring members are educated on safe paddling practices and water safety.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSkill Development: \u003c/strong\u003eOffering training and instruction for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced paddlers.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRecreation: \u003c/strong\u003eProviding members with a fun and engaging way to explore waterways and enjoy the outdoors.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCommunity: \u003c/strong\u003eFostering a sense of community among members through group activities and events.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eConservation:\u003c/strong\u003e Promoting environmental stewardship and raising awareness about the importance of protecting natural waterways.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eActivities\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eRecreational and social paddling\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe club offers opportunities to join other Cambridge Canoe Club paddlers on gentle social paddles mainly on both the upper and lower river Cam although sometimes further a field. These take place at the weekend through the summer and the winter months. During the summer evening paddles are also offered. If you prefer to organise your own social paddle with other Cambridge Canoe Club members the club house is open Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10.00 to 12.00 and in the summer Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.00 to 8.00 PM.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eRacing\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe club supports and offers a range of racing opportunities with a focus on supporting paddlers to progress in this area. These include introduction to racing sessions, Saturday morning coaching sessions, and the monthly Hare and Hounds time trial run from the club house. There are a range of opportunities to race locally as well as further afield. The club hosts one of the Hasler series offering an ideal opportunity for our paddles and families to get involved in the organising of a racing event as well as taking part in it. The club owes a number of racing boats with various levels of stability suitable for a range of people including under 18s. In addition, the club offers storage (allocated on a points based system) for members who own their own boats and would like to store them at the club.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eWhite Water Kayaking\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile the Cam doesn\u0027t offer a white water experience, the club regularly arranges white water trips to a variety of rivers across both England and Wales which members can sign up to. The club owns a variety of white water kayaks that members are welcome to borrow for club trips. Trips to the Lee Valley White Water Centre offers members an opportunity to try and progress in white water kayaking in a safe environment.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSea Kayaking\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is an active group of sea kayakers at the club organising trips and opportunities for skill-development. The club has a\u0026nbsp;super variety of eight\u0026nbsp; Sea Kayak boats. We love to welcome new and experienced folk. We have the new training \u0027Gateway\u0027 induction for novices to start their experience journey in safety, progressing to beginners paddles and more advanced trips along the east coast, right through to the wild and splashy beautiful shores of Anglesey, Dorset and beyond.
